COMPANIES IN THE MANUFACTURING AND SELECTED SERVICES SECTOR ARE REQUIRED TO PROVIDE MIDA APPROVAL LETTER VIA XPATS GATEWAY DURING SUBMISSION OF EMPLOYMENT PASS APPLICATION


Dear Valued Clients,


Referring to the announcement/media release by the Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA) on 14 June 2023 through their official website, companies in the Manufacturing Sector, Selected Services Sector, and Representative Office/Regional Office (RE/RO) with approved status located in Peninsular Malaysia can now apply for the Expatriate Post Approvals and Employment Pass Support Letters through the Xpats Gateway accessible via the ESD Online at esd.imi.gov.my.


One of the mandatory documents to obtain the MIDA Support Letter is the Approval of Manufacturing License (ML)/Incentive/Grant/Status/Letter of Exemption from Manufacturing License, serving as evidence that the company operates in a sector under MIDA's purview.


The Xpats Gateway was officially launched on 15 June 2023 as part of the Government's commitment to digitising governance while ensuring that Malaysia remains a business-friendly country that supports its economic and investment goals.

XPATS GATEWAY - CENTRALISED PLATFORM FOR EXPATRIATES' SUPPORT LETTER APPLICATION FROM AGENCIES


Greetings from MYXpats Centre!


Referring to our announcement on 1 June 2023, the Xpats Gateway, officially launched on 15 June 2023, represents the Government's commitment to digitising governance while ensuring that Malaysia remains a business-friendly country that supports its economic and investment goals.


We are pleased to announce that effective 31 July 2023 onwards, the Xpats Gateway system has been extended to include more sectors. Employers under the purview of the following Agencies can now apply a Support Letter for their expatriate hiring through Xpats Gateway. The Xpats Gateway can be accessed via the ESD Online at esd.imi.gov.my.

Upon obtaining a letter from the respective agencies, the employer can continue with the application for the final decision by the Immigration Department of Malaysia via the ESD Online (esd.imi.gov.my).

For sectors not listed above, employers may obtain their Support Letters directly from respective Agencies as usual until the full implementation of Xpats Gateway.


Note: For other sectors not under the purview of Agencies, the employers can apply their expatriate applications directly to ESD Online (esd.imi.gov.my).

However, the Expatriate Committee or the Immigration Department of Malaysia reserves the right to request additional information to support the decision-making.
